Sukkot and the Clouds of Glory, Audio CD
Some have the custom of decorating their sukkah with the words, “a remembrance of the clouds of glory,” this custom comes from Leviticus 23:43. But what are these “sukkoth” in which the Israelites dwelt after the Exodus from Egypt? Were they tents or were they clouds provided by God to lead the Israelites through the wilderness and shelter them from the desert heat? The sages of Israel differ in their opinions, but which explanation is right? To answer this question, D. Thomas Lancaster explores the biblical use of the word “sukkah.” He discovers the answer and explains how “the clouds of glory” teaches us about God’s presence and the coming of the Messiah.
